New ‘Green’ business association
The first business card of De Groene Zaak was symbolically handed out by Dutch Secretary of State Heemskerk of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (see picture below). The members of this business association collaborate with each other - and with the government - in accelerating the creation of a sustainable economy.
Government-supported initiative
Sustainable businesses in many different sectors are confronted by the same barriers to progress. De Groene Zaak is a new association of businesses that pool their knowledge and expertise in order to define a shorter path to a sustainable economy. The government provides the policy-related support that is needed, for example the adaptation of regulations and statutory requirements. For this reason, De Groene Zaak explicitly seeks to collaborate closely with politicians and the government.
Ambitions
De Groene Zaak not only lobbies for accelerating the process of making the economy more sustainable. The association wants to actively contribute to this process. ‘As one of the founding partners, we have given this initiative our support from the very beginning,’ says Nick op den Buijsch. ‘We applaud the fact that De Groene Zaak does not simply wait for politicians to regulate, but actively helps the government to accelerate this process. Action rather than endless discussion!’
You can join too!
The 35 initial members of De Groene Zaak have demonstrated that sustainable business development can be profitable. After all, there is an abundance of opportunities for both small and large companies. Van Gansewinkel, which recycles and recovers materials from waste, is a good example, as is Van Houtum.
‘Because we are one of the founding members, we feel it appropriate to act as an ambassador for De Groene Zaak. We enjoy introducing our customers and suppliers like you to this highly motivated and very diverse association. Joining De Groene Zaak is simple. You do not have to be a ‘green’ business at the moment. However, you must be prepared to do business in accordance with the People Planet Profit business model.’
Our members subscribe to the six business principles:
1. Base your activities on a sustainable earnings model
2. Reduce waste and squandering of resources
3. Accept chain responsibility
4. Focus on maximum energy reduction and use sustainable energy
5. Actively support new and sustainable funding models
6. Build a position of sustainability leadership
