Climate change is a personal responsibility!
A Top 5 list of Daily Eco Crimes has been drawn up following the climate summit in Copenhagen. Did you know that soft, non-recycled toilet paper comes in second? A strong argument for making an immediate switch to our 100% pure Satino Nature. Because Satino Nature is both fully recycled and Cradle to Cradle!
The climate summit in Copenhagen, December 2009. All eyes were on the world's leaders: would they succeed in coming to a formal agreement on actions to combat global warming? Dr. Dave S. Reay (British Antarctic Survey and Essex University) argued that climate change is a personal responsibility. At home. At work. At school. We are all jointly responsible and can all jointly contribute to a solution. So the first thing we must do is analyse how ´green´ we really are. There is a high probability that we commit more habitual eco crimes in daily life than we think. And because everybody shares these habits, everything adds up to produce a large problem… The Top 5 includes coffee, toilet paper, fast-moving fashion, laundry and wasting food.
Dr. Reay contends that every kilogramme of 100% recycled tissue paper saves approximately 30 litres of water and 3 to 4 kWh of electricity. Recycled toilet paper is used most in Europe and Latin America, albeit only 1 in 5 rolls. Dr. Reay explicitly advises the use of toilet paper with the FSC recycled eco mark. Nick op den Buijsch, our Concept Manager for CSR, declares: ‘Our FSC recycling mark guarantees that our raw materials consist of 100% recycled paper. A minimum of 85% is post consumer, which means that the paper has already been used by consumers or businesses.’
‘As of October, we are the first and only manufacturer of tissue paper in the world to offer a product (our Satino Nature brand) under C2C certification,’ Nick op den Buijsch continues. ‘That certification guarantees that both the additives used during the production process and also the raw materials for the products have no negative impact on the environment. In addition, Satino Nature also complies with two other strict environmental certification systems: the European Eco-label and FSC recycled label, as referred to by Dr. Reay.’
