An innovative weapon in the battle against influenza: C2C tissue paper
Wholesalers selling cleaning and hygienic products are benefiting from the threat of the influenza pandemic. Demand for paper towels, soap and 'alcohol disinfectant cleaners' has grown exponentially in recent months. This development represents an additional stimulus for our C2C tissue paper, which was introduced in July.
Research has already shown that paper hand towels are still the most hygienic method to dry one's hands. Now, our C2C tissue paper – Satino Nature – also makes it one of the most environmentally friendly methods.
C2C or Cradle tot Cradle means that all materials used in a product can be used to create another product once the first product is no longer useful. As such, C2C avoids waste and loss of quality. We exclusively use recycled paper to produce Satino Nature, for instance. The CO2 emission and water and energy consumption of our factory are among the lowest in the industry worldwide. Our own combined heat and power system allows us to realise an energy performance of 80% as opposed to the usual 50%. We continuously monitor our energy efficiency throughout the production process. Our water consumption rate is far below the industry average. All chemicals needed have been replaced with biodegradable additives which means that we release no hazardous substances into the environment. We supply any residual materials resulting from the recycling operation (short fibres, lime, etc) to Roermond Papier as a raw material. Roermond Papier then produces the cardboard packaging for Satino Nature, completing the circle.
An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure
For the time being, New Influenza A has proved to be a mild flu. Still, the government prefers prevention over a cure. To this end, it has initiated the 'Getting a Grip on Influenza' campaign. The primary message of the campaign is that people can reduce their risk of being infected with New Influenza A, which occurs by breathing in the influenza virus or via the hands. It is therefore generally recommended to wash one's hands frequently with water and soap and dry them with paper towels. The paper towel should be deposited in a trash can immediately.
